2 Weeks Before
Create invitations inviting 5 friends to the party (6 girls total can play).
Decide who the Host will be (usually the mother or other adult). The Host should read over the Party Outline and all other clues, games and information so that they will be totally familiar with the game play.
1 Week Before
Get commitments from the guests and deliver them their Mystery Guides.
Print out the clues. Cut them apart by character and place them in envelopes marked "Round 1 Clues," "Round 2 clues" etc... (some parts of the clues have parentheses where you must fill in the name of your town or your school).
Print out the mystery introduction for the host to read.
Print out the mystery solution and put it in an envelope marked "solution."
Make name badges that list the characters names on them.
Buy the puzzle for the Puzzle game, assemble it and write the clue on it. Gather other materials needed for the Crab Field Game and Riddle game. Print out the clues for the Charades Game.
Plan the food.
Buy tropical island themed decorations.
Day of Party
Decorate with a tropical island theme. Make a sign to hang on the front door that says "Welcome to the Blue Shell Inn." Cheep flower leis and other Hawaiian decor are available at discount stores. You may want to get an old radio and plan a "crime scene" where the radio is broken.
Set up the craft table, with the craft supplies all ready for the arriving guests.
Play some tropical music in the background while guests do the crafts.
Set up other games.
As girls arrive give them name badges with their characters names.
Once all girls have arrived and completed their craft, the Host begins the mystery by reading the Game Introduction.
