Why did you write this?

My daughter is a big fan of the Nancy Drew computer mystery games and when she turned 11 she wanted to have a Nancy Drew party. We searched and searched the Internet for party ideas, but there were very few ideas for the pre-teen age group of girls and even fewer ideas for mystery parties. I remember playing a few boxed roll playing mystery games as an adult so I searched the Internet for the same thing for kids. I found a few sites (even some original scripts offered on eBay.) But they were all expensive $29.99 up to $49.99. Way outside my budget.

So I borrowed one of the mystery box games for adults from a friend and after looking it over I decided I could write one of my own, but for pre-teen girls. Then I decided I'd throw in some games and activities to keep it exciting. The result is this mystery party game The Blue Shell.

The birthday party was a big success! None of the girls had ever been to a party like this before and once they figured it out, they really got into it. The next day I had one mom call me and tell me that her daughter told her it was the funnest party she had ever been to.

So why post it here for free? That's a good question! After all the hours of work I went into to design it and write it I thought it was a shame for it to sit and gather dust on my hard drive. Surely there are other girls out there that would want to play a mystery game like this. Surely there are other mothers that don't have the $49.99 to fork out for a script and that would love to find this for free. So to that end I post it here.

If you use my script and like it you can buy me lunch. If you were my neighbor, we could go to McDonald's and watch our kids play on the play land, but since that is not possible, by clicking on the Pay Pal donation link you can do the next best thing.

Enjoy!
